Very quick response to say that the walking holiday was absolutely fantastic. We had 8 terrific days experiencing Sicily and the Aolian Islands - it is only the second time in my life I have not wanted to go home. Infact I would go back tomorrow! I will write you a longer piece than this with photos which we would be very happy for you to use as publicity.
The main issue for us was that we wanted our holiday to be independent and we wanted to experience the area as it really is and not packaged for tourists - we weren't disappointed! This was only our second holiday in Italy - the first being last year in the north and for us we like being outside doing things. What we really wanted was for the holiday to be organised for us so that we could enjoy it due to our hectic work schedules and we were not disappointed! The Sicilians and the Aeolians were incredibly welcoming - the hotels were excellent, the transfers between places were superb, the walks were better than the briefs suggested and the local food was fantastic. I'm not sure if you would get the same experience in high summer when everywhere would be more crowded. We had one problem - which due to circumstances didn't work in our favour - I rang Mandala Tours from the ferry to Stromboli and they were straight on to it with a successful outcome. I really can't recommend them highly enough. Would I recommend this holiday? Yes!!!!! Would I book with you again and Mandala Tours? Yes!!!! When? - don't know because there are so many places in the world that we want to visit. What have we learnt from the trip? We intend to revisit the area in the future and go to the smaller islands. We would like to go back for a longer period of time. We need to acquire a better command of the Italian Language - I kept thinking in French and got linguistically confused. Actually Italian does appear to be easier than French. Regards Jan
