Located at the southern borders of Europe, a few miles from Tunisia, the western Sicily offers a unique mix of nature, culture and history. We are going to explore the archaeological sites of Segesta and Selinunte, where temples, theaters and Acropolis are the witnesses of the passage of ancient civilizations.The excursions in the Zingaro Nature Reserve and in M.te Cofano, will show us the flora of the Mediterranean in wild surroundings suspended between earth and sky of rare beauty: caves, impressive cliffs and coves will be featured on our way. We will live fully the Mediterranean in the wild Marettimo island, in the narrow streets of Trapani, in the Medina of Mazara del Vallo and in the tuna fishery in Scopello, to walk in the recent history between the walls of the beautiful medieval town of Erice.

Arrival at the airport of Trapani / Palermo and private transfer to Scopello a typical small village of Trapani area nestled between the mountains and the sea, the gateway to the "Riserva Naturale dello Zingaro". Dinner and overnight stay in Scopello. (Meals: D) (5h trek, +500 m - 530 m, 13 km)We start walking from Scopello and we enter the first nature reserve in Sicily: the Zingaro. Established in 1976, is home to towering limestone mountains, interspersed by spectacular caves and petrified forests, a coastline dotted with coves and cliffs overlooking the sea, very impressive. Ability to bath at the various coves of the reserve. Dinner and overnight stay in Scopello. (Meals: B / D) (5h trek, + 500 m - 500 m, 12 km)
Private transfer to the slopes of Mount Pispina. We walk in the gentle countryside of the Val d'Erice, exploring one of the most fascinating archaeological sites in Sicily: Segesta. The ancient city founded in the fourth century BC preserves the Doric Temple and the Theatre which opens in the surrounding hills. The climb to the summit of Mt Pispina you will permit to discover from the top the archaeological area, appreciating its size and the excellent preservation. After the hike, free visit of the archaeological area. Private transfer from Segesta to Mazara del Vallo, seaside town where you can breathe the scent of Tunisia. Transfer to Selinunte. The archaeological hiking of today will allow us to read another page of domination in Sicily. Selinunte, first Phoenician and then Greek settlement, is the largest archaeological site in Europe. The temples dedicated to different gods overlook the sea and the mouth of the River Belice. The great Acropolis facing the Mediterranean relive us the past glories of the Greek. Free afternoon to discover the beauty of Mazara del Vallo: the Medina and the tiles that colour the streets. Transfer to Trapani and visit to the main monuments of the old town. In the afternoon excursion to Erice. Wandering through the narrow alleys and cobbled streets of Erice, return to the medieval period when the town was founded. Impregnable because perched at 750 m above sea level, overlooking Trapani, the “Saline” of Paceco and the Aegadian islands from above. From the paths of history to the paths that cross the ridge, towards Trapani, seaside town that breathes the scent of the Tunisian coast. Dinner in a restaurant and overnight in Trapani (Meals: B / D) (4h trek, + 450 to 450 m, 7 km)
Hydrofoil to Marettimo. Considered one of the wildest islands in the Mediterranean, Marettimo offers to the hikers a stunning pitch: Dolomite peaks and caves, Mediterranean and witnesses of ancient human settlements steps of different populations. A path that goes up to the cliffs and then down to the coast: sea and mountains will be the true protagonists of our trekking. Possibility of swimming in different bays of the island. Hydrofoil to Trapani. Free dinner and overnight at Trapani. (Meals: B)

Private transfer to the fishing village of Comino. Ring full of great vantage points around the reserve of Mount Cofano. The coastal path always close to the sea and protected from the mountain, goes into one of the richest colonies of the dwarf palm up to take us to the medieval towers of control. The view goes on the board of San Vito Lo Capo and Aegadian islands. From the sea to the marble quarries, to the impressive cave “Mangiapane”. Private transfer to Trapani. Skill level: Easy. A prior hiking experience is advisable. During the winter time the weather conditions could be difficult (strong wind, rain and cold temperatures). The typology of the paths are: large dirt road, mule track and large path.

Luggage: some transfer will be on a private vehicle some other will be on public transportation. We suggest you to bring a daily back pack (30 lt) and a wheel luggage for the short distances.
