May 16th 2007 the FEE , international, non government and no profit association in charge of monitoring the environment, communicated the 96 Italian beaches and 54 tourist boarding places that have received the “blue flag”. This is a way of assess the cleanest and the most unpolluted beach in Italy.
In comparison to 2006, it has been registered an increase of 6 flags as far as the beaches are concerned and 2 flags as the tourist boarding places. Italy is classified between the first 10 countries on the Mediterranean sea.
The beaches that have received the “blue flag” have satisfied the goals fixed by the FEE: water and coast quality, street furniture, cycle tracks, services for disabled people, rubbish collection and education to the environment.
As far as the tourist boarding places Fee has given the blue flag to those who has provided high quality in terms of services and security measures.
