The Aeolian archipelago is made up of seven islands: Lipari, Vulcano, Salina, Panarea, Stromboli, Filicudi and Alicudi. All the islands are different and unique with scenarios full of contrasts. From the black beaches of Vulcano and Stromboli to the pumice sands of Lipari; from the Stromboli explosions to the fumarole in Vulcano. The sea, with its warm water because of submarine fumaroles, is the undisputed king of the archipelago.

 Program

Meeting in Milazzo and transfer by hydrofoil to the island of Stromboli. Visit of the village of San Vincenzo. Dinner and overnight stay.
Morning visit to the AOC (Advanced Operations Centre), a structure of civil protection that constantly monitors the status of the volcano for the safety of residents and visitors. Visit to the center to learn all the instruments used to monitor the volcano. The Stromboli is one of the most active volcanoes in the world, the Romans used to call it the lighthouse of the Mediterranean because of the continuing explosions were used for navigation. In the afternoon excursion to the Sciara del Fuoco, to enjoy the explosive activity of the volcano. Return to Lipari, dinner and overnight stay.
  (3h walks + 390 mt – 390 mt).Transfer to the island of Vulcano, famous for its thermal baths. Check-in in the hotel before starting the excursion to the crater. Free time between the beach and the thermal baths. Dinner and overnight stay
After breakfast transfer by hydrofoil to Milazzo. End of our service.

Difficulty: suitable for secondary schools students. Our itineraries are accessible and secure, they includes visits to ancient craters. Observation of natural aspects of our volcanos. Option: hike to the summit of Stromboli volcano with a guide, weather & activity of the volcano permitting. Small groups of 20 people (€25 per person)

 

Departures in 2011: from April to June and from September to the end of October.

Accommodation: 3 nights in local hotels where the accommodation is based on twin/triple/quadruple room sharing: - 2 nights in hotel from 2 to 5 beds in Stromboli - 1 night in Vulcano

Equipment: Hiking boots waterproof, waterproof jacket, hat, gloves, headlamp, swimsuit, sunglasses, and sunscreen

Luggage: we reccomend a large trolley and a rucksack during the walks.
