During the whole XIX° century the population of the island increased very much due to the thriving commerce of wine and capers. From 1889 to the first world war a drastic depopulation took place.
The museum shows the causes and consequences of this historical event by documents such as travel tickets, insurance policies and letters. The destinations of the emigrants were northern America and Australia. Address: |
