An enchanting walk with snowshoes on the fresh white snow around the largest active volcano in Europe. Mount Etna rises to 3350m above sea level at the summit where the gaping craters lie, but this height varies as a result of the continuing explosive activity that constantly reshapes the summit crater area. In winter time the volcano is covered in snow. The contrast between the black lava and green pine forest, the blue of the sea and the white of the snow makes this trip incredibly unique.

Important: Due to the unpredictable nature of the volcanoes and weather conditions, the program is subject to change. We always try to adhere as much as possible to the described itinerary. The guide reserves the right to decide whether or not to follow the program depending on safety measures, the weather and also the physical condition of the trekkers. In the event of there being a lack of snow, we will follow the same itinerary as described in the program.

Departure: from December to April

Skill level: moderate, 5 to 6 hours walking each day, hilly-to-steep terrain. A prior hiking experience is recommended. In winter time the weather conditions on Etna can be very changeable, from sunny days to very cold and windy days.

Accommodation : Hotel accommodation in double or triple room.

• - 1 night in comfortable mountain hotel

• - 2 night in Hotel** Catania.

Equipment: snowshoes, good and solid trekking boots, frontal torch with batteries, wind stopper jacket, hat and gloves, sunglasses and sun hat, trekking trousers and shorts, swimming costume, sun cream, multitask knife, plastic box for food and cutlery for packed lunches, alpenstock and gators for volcanic ash path

Included:

• - All the transfers in private minibus and public buses/train
