Self guided trekking tour & car rental - 8 days / 7 nightsA complete tour to discover the most beautiful and wildest places of Sicily. Syracuse has a great cultural heritage, and is a privileged gateway to the knowledge of the island and of the journey the man made from the early history till today. The town of Noto is included in the UNESCO list of human heritage and its magnificent cathedral has recently reopened to the public. Even Taormina, an important stage of the Grand Tour during the XIX century,  inspired many writers such as Goethe or Dumas. Finally, Etna and its majesty dominate the whole eastern part of the island. You will enjoy the accommodation in farm holidays, with a warm and personalized welcome, to meet farmers who dedicate their lives to take care of their land.

Day 2: Cava Grande del Cassibile Natural Reserve
Day 3: Pantalica Necropolis
Day 4: Vendicari Natural Reserve and Syracuse Archeological Park
Day 5: Taormina and l'Isola Bella
Day 6: Mt Etna southern side
Day 7: Mt Etna northern side
Day 8: Drop-off of the car at Catania airport and departure

Technical characteristics:Terrain characteristics: mountain tracks and paths. Trekking on Stromboli and on Mt Etna demanding, we recommend a previous training and trekking practise over slopes with 900/1000 mt positive gradient. Average walking time: between 3 and 6 hours per day.

Equipment: trekking boots, bathing suite, sun glasses, sun cream, pile, wind proof racket (quilted jacket in April, May, September and October), gloves, frontal torch, multitask knife, 1,5 l water-bottle, trekking trousers, short, sandals, hut against the sun.
