Turi was very in tune with each of us and went out of his way to help us including our plans after the trip was over. I would have liked him to teach us some Italian and wish he had known how dificult it was to change dollars and urge me to change at the airport but he may have thought I had an ATM card. I only had cash.

Despite Etna and the weather being against us and a few disappointments along the way we had a fantastic time and would recommend World Walks to anyone. Mandala tours were also superb in providing a fantastic service with easy to understand maps and Itinerary with lots of up to date info on ferries costs etc - even a couple of idiots like us couldn't very easily get lost !! the hotels provided were very clean and the staff were always friendly and polite, the service we were shown regarding our delayed start was very professional and reassuring. Excellent company to walk with and I would be very grateful if you could pass on our thanks to the staff at Mandala tours.

Our holiday got off to a bumpy start with us arriving in Milano airport to find that our connection flight had been cancelled due to Etna erupting resulting in Catania Airport closing , we did how ever managed to get on an evening flight to Palermo airport and our airline provided us transport to Catania - Phew!!
Mandala tours were fantastic! and very kindly re-arranged the transfer for us later that evening so we did after a very stressful day manage to arrive at our first hotel. Our stay on Lipari was great and our visit to Vulcano Island was just superb! Our trip to Stromboli wasn't as good as could be with high winds blowing on the day that we were supposed to visit the summit with Magma trek this resulting in the excursion being cancelled - big disappointment.
Etnas eruption also scuppered our planned excursion to the summit with the mountain being unstable.

Climbing down Stromboli volcano in the dark - it was scary (almost like being on an alien planet) but never known anything quite like it - an hour to remember. And it turned out much easier to do than I thought!
Our group leader Georgia was helpful and knowledgable.

We travel a lot and this was one of the top trips for us. Hiking provided such a wonderful opportunity to really see the country and feel the power of the volcanoes. Stromboli and Etna being our two favorites. For me personnaly, I did not enjoy the free time in Amalfi or in the town of Castelmola as they were way too touristy for me.
